George Soros is one of the influential individuals in the world today. He has an immense influence on the political landscape of both the United States and Europe. Through his involvement in the political industry, Soros has become a force to reckon with.

Early life

Soros was born in Budapest, Hungary during the Nazi regime. As the Nazi’s oppression grew, George relocated to London in 1947. He attended the London School of Economics and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy and later Master in Philosophy.

After school, he found it hard to secure a job and so he settled for a salesman job. Through his persistence, he landed a job at the Singer & Friedlander in England. Philanthropy

It is not only his political involvement that has made him an icon; his philanthropy has also been remarkable. George is worth $25.2 billion and is the 23rd richest man in the world. Part of the wealth has been contributed to different organizations. Approximately, Soros has given $12 billion to charity in his lifetime.

Most of his donations have been given to organizations and individuals across the globe to help fight oppression and promote justice and accountability in the government institutions. His main agenda has been to promote equality amongst all the citizens.

Using his wealth, he founded the Open Society Foundations which is a network of foundations. The foundations are present in over 100 countries. The foundation works represent George’s ideology that societies will flourish if they allow democratic governance and respect for individual’s rights.

Political involvement

George Soros is a liberal, and he supports the Democrats. He has over the years provided financial support to the Democratic political campaigns. In 2016, Soros contributed $25 million towards Hilary’s presidential campaigns and other Democrats vying for different positions.

George Soros is also opposed to the Trump administration and has in different occasions accused him of being is support of ISIS.

Soros also believes that the Trump administration will fail because President Donald Trump ideologies contradict each other.

In Central and Eastern Europe, Soros has provided financial support that has proven to be vital to the success of the Rose Revolution.
